Tutorials - Transparency in Photoshop

Program: Adobe Photoshop
Difficulty: Easy

Ever wondered how to make a blog in Photoshop? Or even just make a layout with a transparent box to write your text in, so it's visible? ^^; This tutorial will teach you everything you need to know about transparency. :]

Step 1: Find an image you want to use! :] I'll be using this image from Neopets.

Step 2: Open Adobe Photoshop. Make the dimensions the exact size of your image. My image will be 360x300. Make sure the mode is RGB Color and the content is Transparent.

Step 3: Paste your image into your document. Then, click on the Rectangle Tool. Make your foreground color white, and you'll be ready to add the transparency.

Step 4: Drag on your image where you want your transparency to be. Mine will be in the middle. :] This is what your image should look like:

Step 5: Now that you have your transparency where you want it to be, go over to your Layers Box. Click on Shape 1, which is what you just made. Change the Opacity to 50%. This is what your Layers Pallete should look like:

Step 6: You're pretty much done now, but feel free to add some text, a border, etc. Here is my final product:
